How it works

The Model O made the honeycomb ultralight mainstream at a budget price — and its 20M-rated Omron switches are a lower bin than what flagship mice use, so double-click and early switch failure reports are common enough that testing a used or year-old unit is genuinely worthwhile.

Known issues on the Glorious Model O

Double-clicking on the main buttons is the Model O's most-reported fault, appearing as early as 6–12 months for heavy clickers. The flexible cable frays where it exits the shell if it rubs a desk edge. Scroll wheels on early batches wobble side-to-side and can squeak. The honeycomb shell lets dust reach the PCB — mostly cosmetic, but worth a periodic blow-out.

A worn micro-switch "bounces", sending two clicks for one physical press. The detector flags any second click landing within 80 ms of the first — far faster than any human double-click. Repeated flags on single presses mean switch bounce: a real hardware fault. Contact cleaner sometimes buys time; otherwise the switch needs replacing. Sensor and tracking

Move the pointer smoothly across the arena. Jumps, stutters or a cursor that won't reach the edges point to a dirty sensor lens, a bad surface (glossy or glass), or a failing sensor. Wipe the lens, try a proper mousepad, and re-test before blaming the hardware.

Troubleshooting

Right-click opens a menu instead of registering

The test arena suppresses the context menu while your pointer is inside it. If a menu still opens, click once inside the arena first so it has focus.

Buttons 4 and 5 don’t register

Browser support for side buttons varies, and some mice map them to Back/Forward at driver level. Try disabling gestures in your mouse software, then test again.

The double-click detector flagged my mouse — now what?

Repeated flags on a single physical click mean switch bounce, a hardware fault. Cleaning with contact cleaner sometimes helps; otherwise the switch needs replacing.
